SASH – Sexual Abuse Support and Healing in Nelson/Tasman

At SASH We’re a non-profit, community organisation run by a group of trained and dedicated professionals. We support adults, whanau and young people who have been victims of sexual assault/rape. Wherever you’re at in your journey, please feel welcome to reach out to our team today. All of the services at SASH are free.

We believe everyone deserves a life free from sexual violence and to be able to feel safe. We aim to support people through empowering them towards healing, growing autonomy, self-determination, personal growth, pride, confidence and self-esteem.

SASH is available to people of all genders, age, capacity, ethnicity or sexual orientation. We support victims of both recent and historic assaults. You do not have to report or have reported an assault to be supported.

SASH have offices in Nelson, Motueka, and the West Coast that support Adults, Whanau and young people.

SASH have an office in Blenheim that supports young people. If you are a woman 18years + please contact the Marlborough Sexual Violence Support Centre on 0800437077.

What we do

    • Free Private and confidential Professional one on one support
    • A professional Case Manager will walk alongside you through the journey of healing from sexual harm through support and advocacy
    • Support to access other services that may be available
    • Support with both recent and historical abuse
    • Support to be ready and access ACC Sensitive Claims Counselling
    • Support for people and whanau when making statements at the police station
    • Information and guidance on the police and court procedures
    • Specialised sexual violence prevention education programmes for young people
    • Advice and information on the Court and Judicial Services related to sexual harm police intervention
    • Advice and information on the medical process surrounding rape and sexual assault

    • 24 hour crisis response and support for sexual assault Includes support for police interviews, forensic exams, judicial options and support connecting with other supports/resource.
    • Court support through the Court and judicial process This specialised service provides wrap around support for survivors and their supporters to navigate court trials, victim impact statements, restorative justice, meetings with police, crown   prosecutors, and to connect to therapeutic supports as needed before, during and after criminal justice events.
